CBCWA Night With Our Stars 2024

In March the fabulous Kristy Nita Brown and I were invited to present at the Children’s Book Council of WA Night With Our Stars. It was a super night full of WA authors, illustrators and book productions, and I’m a little late blogging about it because I’ve been very busy for the last two months!

Kristy and I were spruiking Mavey & Beth’s Double Act 1: Where’s My Whistle?, a fully WA production, right down to the printing.

Mavey is excited to sing at the end-of-year concert. But the Year Two song has whistling in, and Mavey can’t whistle. To make matters worse, her twin sister Beth has a mighty whistle.

Mavey is terrified that her classmates will laugh at her, so her family devises a plan to get her whistling.

With Mavey learn how to the whistle in time for the big concert? Or will Mavey’s toot stay mute?

Where’s My Whistle came out last year, a great read for kids just beginning in their reading journey, complete with links to curriculum, and bonus fun facts and craft activities hiding in the cover.

But we had a surprise up our sleeve - in addition to presenting Where’s My Whistle, we were introducing the cover for book 2 in the series, The Stud Squad!

The Stud Squad is currently in the final editing stages, and will be released later this year (when I have done the illustrations!) but we are already excited about it! We are so proud of the work we have done together already.

And did I mention that we announced this cover to the world with the help of confetti cannons?

Keep an eye out for The Stud Squad in later 2024 - and follow Kristy at her website to stay up to date!
